In this article we will explain how this icon is determined and look at different ways to use custom icons to improve the user experience.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Icon according to the extension of the main file<\/h2>\n\n<p>When a document belongs to a category with parent file, and the &#8220;Parent file&#8221; field is filled in, Docuo will use the icon corresponding to its extension:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5014\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2.png 650w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2-600x369.png 600w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2-50x31.png 50w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2-60x37.png 60w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-2-100x62.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>For example, the Excel icon will be displayed for a document with an .xls extension, the Acrobat icon for the .pdf extension, or the Word icon for the .doc or .docx extension:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"496\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5012\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1.png 496w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1-50x23.png 50w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1-60x28.png 60w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-1-100x47.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">It is not possible to customize the icon associated with the main file extension, nor to force Docuo to ignore this icon to display the document category icon.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Icon set in document category<\/h2>\n\n<p>When the &#8220;Main file&#8221; field is empty, or the category has no main file, Docuo displays a default icon:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"499\" height=\"168\" src=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5016\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3.png 499w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3-50x17.png 50w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3-60x20.png 60w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-3-100x34.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>It is possible to customize this icon for each type of document, from the Category Manager.  <\/p>\n\n<p>For example, for an incident category, we could display the icon of a headset:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"513\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5022\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6.png 513w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6-50x35.png 50w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6-60x42.png 60w, https:\/\/help.r2docuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/image-6-100x71.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>From now on, the documents in the &#8220;Incidents&#8221; For example, we could have one item &#8220;Training Sessions&#8221; with the category icon, and another item &#8220;Completed Training Sessions&#8221; with a different icon (e.g. a clock icon).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">Workspace icons overwrite the category icon only in the navigation tree and in the results list header.
